Just been to the 4AD site and had one of those ' eh up summats changed' moments. We have a new 4AD site - Yay! It look fresh, incorporates Facebook Fans, links to videos, band info, twitter etc. However you still cant buy and product from my brief look and ALL LINKS TO FAN SITES (INCLUDING Driving@Light) have been removed from the links section. Corporate links only now boys and girls. I consider this a very retrograde step and I'm sure other fans and 4AD site owners will feel the same. I dont see any problem with listing fan sites myself but ~I would say that wouldnt I?
There are a few different promos floating around for the recent Blonde Redhead album that I know about and havent reported until now. The first is a one track entitled 'Not Getting There'. Comes in a plastic wallet without any artwork. The disc is the typical black and white CD-R now commonly used by 4AD.
The second promo is for the first single from the album called 'Here Sometimes'. This is a two track promo CD-R that comes in the plastic wallet but this time has associated artwork. Looks very similar to the commercial release. The two tracks are:
4AD have released a set of 5 postcards promoting the recent High Violet album by The National. Three cards show band members, one shows album artwork and the final one shows the text High Violet on a violet background. Nice set of cards, the first promo postcard set I have come across for quite a while.
Again on Flickr you can see the Beggars Web Designer in his other role of music photographer. He manages to get brilliant shots of bands at their gigs. Take a look yourself at:
